This MyCase review covers what MyCase actually includes in 2026, what it costs, where it falls short, and which law firms it fits. All pricing below was checked on the official MyCase pricing page in October 2026. MyCase is part of 8am, the company behind LawPay, CasePeer, and DocketWise (see What Is 8am?).

MyCase Review: The Short Version

MyCase is all-in-one, cloud-based legal practice management software. It combines case and contact management, calendaring, time tracking, invoicing, trust accounting, a client portal, and built-in LawPay online payments. Higher tiers add automated workflows, eSignature, legal CRM and intake, two-way texting, and the 8am IQ AI assistants.

It suits small and mid-sized firms that want case management and billing in one system without stitching together separate tools. Firms that need deep customization or a long list of niche integrations should compare it carefully against alternatives first.

Billing and Payments: MyCase + LawPay

Billing is one of MyCase’s main strengths. Invoices pull directly from time entries and expenses and can go out by email, text, or the client portal. Higher tiers add batch billing, payment plans, automatic interest, LEDES billing, and subscription billing. Payments run through LawPay, which MyCase says is built for IOLTA trust account protection and compliance with ABA guidelines.

MyCase Pros and Cons

Pros

  • All-in-one platform. Case management, billing, trust accounting, and payments live in one system.
  • Clear published pricing. Three tiers with public per-user prices, plus a cheaper annual option.
  • Built-in payments. LawPay integration with next-business-day deposits and no monthly LawPay fee.
  • Client communication. Client portal on every plan, plus two-way texting on Pro and above.
  • Onboarding included. Guided implementation and training sessions at no extra cost.
  • No contract required. You can pay month to month.

Cons

  • Important features sit on Pro. Workflows, eSignature, intake/CRM, texting, and most AI tools aren’t in Basic, so many firms will realistically pay $100+ per user.
  • Some features cost extra. Full accounting is a $39/user/month add-on, and extra Discovery Assistant pages cost more.
  • Open API is Advanced-only. Firms that want custom integrations need the top tier.
  • Short trial. Ten days isn’t long to test a full practice management migration.
  • Payments are tied to LawPay. The built-in payments experience is designed around LawPay.
  • No refunds. Previously paid fees are non-refundable when you cancel.

Who MyCase Is For

  • Solo and small firms that want case management, billing, and payments in one place.
  • Client-facing practices (family, criminal, estate planning, general practice) that rely on a portal and texting.
  • Growing firms that want intake, CRM, and workflows without buying a separate CRM (Pro and up).
  • Firms already using LawPay that want payments wired directly into billing.

MyCase may not fit if you need a specialized practice-area platform, such as personal injury or immigration. In that case, 8am’s own CasePeer or DocketWise may be closer to what you need. It may also not fit if your firm depends on a specific integration that MyCase doesn’t support.

MyCase Alternatives

Our Verdict

MyCase is a solid, transparently priced all-in-one option for small and mid-sized firms, and billing plus LawPay payments are its biggest strengths. Pro is the realistic starting tier for most firms because it includes workflows, eSignature, intake, and texting. The 10-day trial is short, so plan your evaluation before you start it.
