This Docketwise review covers what immigration attorneys actually get from 8am DocketWise in 2026: forms automation, case management, CRM, built-in AI, payments, and pricing. Everything below comes from DocketWise’s own website and pricing page, checked October 14, 2026. Where the vendor page is ambiguous, we say so rather than guess.
Docketwise review: the short version
Docketwise is immigration-specific practice management software from 8am (the company behind MyCase and LawPay). Its core is a multilingual client intake questionnaire that auto-populates immigration forms, wrapped in case management built around priority dates, expirations, and USCIS updates. Plans start at $80 or $90 per user per month depending on billing term (more on that below), all with unlimited cases. DocketWise says no credit card or long-term contract is required to get started.

What Docketwise does
Immigration forms automation
DocketWise’s headline feature is Smart Forms: you send a tailored questionnaire to the client by text or email, the client answers in their language, and the answers auto-populate immigration forms. The site says you can assemble multiple forms and supporting documents into a single filing package, and e-file (e-Filing is listed on the Pro and Advanced plans).
Case management
Case and priority date tracking, expirations, tasks, notes, and client communications live in one place. DocketWise lists automated intake, automatic sharing of USCIS updates with clients, a client portal with document requests, calendaring and time tracking, invoicing and trust accounting, automated templates, and Gmail and Outlook add-ons.
CRM and lead management
On Pro and above, DocketWise captures leads from your website, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and SMS into one dashboard, with email sending and automated follow-ups. Pro also adds built-in text messaging and bulk messaging.
DocketWise IQ (legal AI)
8am IQ is built into DocketWise on Pro and Advanced. According to DocketWise, the Document Assistant captures client and case data into your forms to cut manual entry, and the Writing Assistant edits, refines, and translates client communications.
Payments and integrations
8am LawPay is integrated for IOLTA-compliant client payments. DocketWise also lists integrations with QuickBooks (Pro and above), Google Calendar, Gmail, Outlook, and thousands more via Zapier. If you’re unsure how DocketWise, LawPay, and MyCase relate, see What is 8am?
Reporting
Custom reports on case status, revenue, deadlines, tasks, unpaid invoices, and lead sources.
A typical Docketwise workflow
Here’s how a family-based case could move through DocketWise using the features the vendor lists. This is our walkthrough of the advertised features, not a vendor demo.
- Lead comes in. On Pro or above, an inquiry from your website, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, or SMS lands in the CRM dashboard. You follow up by email from inside DocketWise or let automated follow-ups run.
- Client is retained. You open the case and send a tailored questionnaire by text or email.
- Client completes intake in their language. Answers flow into the relevant immigration forms, so staff aren’t retyping names, addresses, and travel history.
- Documents are collected. The client portal handles document requests.
- Filing package is assembled. Multiple forms and supporting documents are combined into one package, then e-filed on Pro or Advanced.
- Case is tracked. Priority dates, expirations, and tasks sit on the case, and USCIS updates are shared with the client automatically.
- Billing and payment. You send an invoice and the client pays through integrated 8am LawPay, with the payment synced to QuickBooks on Pro and above.
Use cases
- High-volume family and naturalization practices: reusable intake data across forms is where the time saving comes from. DocketWise’s homepage claims firms spend “75% less time on admin”; that’s the vendor’s figure, not one we’ve tested.
- Business immigration: the HR portal on Pro is aimed at working with employer clients.
- Multi-office firms: Advanced adds branches, permission groups, and multiple admins.
- Firms with non-English-speaking clients: multilingual questionnaires plus the AI Writing Assistant’s translation of client communications.
Docketwise pricing (and the two price sets)
The DocketWise pricing page shows two sets of prices for the same three plans: $80 / $100 / $120 and $90 / $120 / $140 per user per month. The visible plan cards don’t label which is which. In the page’s code, the lower set sits under a “Yearly” tab and the higher set under a “Monthly” tab, so the most reasonable reading is that the lower prices apply to annual billing and the higher prices to month-to-month. The page also lists “Free Data Migration (Annual Plan)” on Advanced, which fits annual billing being a distinct option. Please check current pricing on DocketWise’s site or with sales before you budget.
| Plan | Lower price (likely yearly) | Higher price (likely monthly) | Key additions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $80/user/mo | $90/user/mo | Smart Forms, case management, multilingual intakes, priority date tracking, client portal, calendaring and time tracking, unlimited cloud storage |
| Pro (most popular) | $100/user/mo | $120/user/mo | e-Filing, e-Signatures, HR portal, CRM/lead management, custom attributes, texting and bulk messaging, QuickBooks, DocketWise IQ AI |
| Advanced | $120/user/mo | $140/user/mo | Multiple branches, user permission groups, multiple admins, priority support, tailored setup, free data migration (annual plan), 5GB file size limit |
All plans include unlimited cases. For a fuller breakdown, see our Docketwise pricing guide.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Built specifically for immigration practice: forms, priority dates, expirations, USCIS updates.
- Multilingual intake questionnaires that auto-populate forms.
- Unlimited cases on every plan.
- LawPay payments, QuickBooks, Gmail/Outlook, and Zapier integrations.
- AI writing and document assistance included on Pro and Advanced.
- No credit card or long-term contract required to start, per DocketWise.
Cons
- Pricing page shows two unlabeled price sets, which makes budgeting harder.
- e-Filing, e-Signatures, CRM, texting, and AI require Pro or higher.
- Per-user pricing adds up for larger teams.
- Immigration-only focus: firms with mixed practice areas may need a general tool too.
Who Docketwise is for
- Solo and small immigration firms that want forms, case tracking, billing, and payments in one system.
- Firms with multilingual clients who benefit from intake in the client’s language.
- Growing or multi-office immigration practices that need branches, permission groups, and priority support (Advanced).
It’s a weaker fit for general practice firms where immigration is a small slice of the work.
How Docketwise compares
The main choice is between an immigration-specific system and a general practice management tool.
| Docketwise | General practice management (e.g. MyCase, Clio) | |
|---|---|---|
| Immigration forms auto-population | Core feature | Usually needs a separate forms tool |
| Priority date and expiration tracking | Built in | Manual or custom fields |
| Multilingual client intake | Built in | Varies |
| Other practice areas | Not designed for them | Built for many practice areas |
| Payments | 8am LawPay integrated | MyCase includes LawPay; Clio uses its own payments |
If more than a small share of your work is immigration, a dedicated tool usually beats bolting forms onto general software. If immigration is occasional, the reverse is usually true.
Getting started
DocketWise says no credit card or long-term contract is needed to get started. Support is by phone, email, or live chat, per the vendor. If you’re moving from another system, Advanced includes free data migration on the annual plan; on other plans, ask sales what migration help is available before you commit.
Docketwise alternatives
If Docketwise isn’t the right fit, compare it with other immigration platforms in our roundup of the best immigration case management software. Firms that handle several practice areas may prefer general practice management such as MyCase (also an 8am product) or Clio, possibly alongside a dedicated immigration forms tool.
Verdict
Docketwise is a focused, well-rounded choice for immigration firms that want intake, forms, case management, and payments in one place. Pro is where most firms will land, because it adds e-Filing, CRM, texting, and AI. Just confirm which price applies to your billing term before you commit. Try Docketwise.
