What the $19 monthly plan includes
LawPay lists one plan with all billing and payment features. According to the pricing page, it includes:
- Trust account protection and IOLTA compliance
- Debit, credit, eCheck, Apple Pay, and client financing payment types
- Payment links, cards on file, and scheduled payments
- Next-day payments
- Chargeback resolution
- Billing and invoicing with time tracking
- Customizable payment pages
- Custom reporting and reconciliation
- Integrations with MyCase, CasePeer, and 70+ legal tools
- Unlimited users and phone support
- PCI compliance (which LawPay values at $150)
Unlimited users matters for firms where several people send invoices or take payments. The fee doesn’t go up as you add staff.
Processing fees: where most of your cost comes from
For most firms, processing fees will cost more than the $19 subscription. At the published card rate, a $2,000 retainer paid by Visa costs $60.10 in processing (2.99% of $2,000 is $59.80, plus $0.30). The same $2,000 paid by eCheck costs $20 at 1%. If clients are comfortable paying by bank transfer, encouraging eCheck for large retainers cuts processing costs by about two-thirds.
American Express costs more, at 3.90% + $0.30. Pay Later, LawPay’s legal fee lending option, is 5.95%. It lets clients finance fees, but it’s the most expensive way to get paid, so decide when it makes sense to offer it.
Card brand pass-through fees
LawPay’s pricing page says some card network fees are passed through to the firm at cost rather than built into higher rates for every transaction. Card network fees that can’t be traced to a specific customer are spread across accounts. LawPay lists that allocation as $7.99 per month. Accepting foreign cards adds 1.75%. The page also lists sample network fees, such as Visa’s $0.10 integrity fee and Mastercard’s 0.85% acquirer program support fee. It notes these fees don’t apply to every transaction and may change.
When you budget, treat your real monthly cost as $19 + $7.99 + processing, plus any network fees your transaction mix triggers.
LawPay inside MyCase: no monthly fee
LawPay and MyCase are both 8am products. MyCase’s official pricing page lists LawPay Payments at $0 monthly fee with “competitive processing rates” for MyCase subscribers, built into MyCase’s billing, payments, and trust accounting. MyCase plans start at $50 per user/month billed annually ($60 monthly). So if you’re also shopping for practice management, compare LawPay standalone against getting payments built into MyCase. Our MyCase vs LawPay guide explains the difference.
LawPay after the Clio integration ended
Clio firms should note that the Clio–LawPay integration ended on August 31, 2026. LawPay still works as a standalone processor, but payments have to be recorded in Clio manually. Read what Clio firms should do now before you decide.
Is LawPay worth the price?
LawPay is built for law firms, with IOLTA-compliant trust handling and chargeback resolution. Those are the main reasons firms pay a monthly fee instead of using a general-purpose processor. It makes the most sense if you:
- Take retainers into trust and need earned and unearned funds kept separate
- Use a practice management tool LawPay integrates with, such as MyCase, CasePeer, or DocketWise
- Want payment links, scheduled payments, and cards on file without building them yourself
